One more team of 120 doctors have arrived to Azerbaijan from Cuba on November 6 as part of the measures taken to curb the spread of coronavirus pandemic, Azertag has reported.

A new team of doctors will support local specialist in the fight against coronavirus pandemic in a modular hospital in Absheron region.

It should be noted that the first medical team of 115 doctors arrived to Azerbaijan from Cuba in July this year.

Moreover, Cuban Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alfredo Nieves Portuondo said that the arrival of the second group of Cuban doctors to Azerbaijan will contribute to the development of relations between two countries.

"Azerbaijan and Cuba have close ties in many spheres. Arrival of the second team of doctors from Cuba to Azerbaijan today is a bright evidence of these relations. I believe our relations will further develop," the ambassador said.

It was noted that during the next three months the medical team will treat patients infected with COVID-19 in Azerbaijan.

On November 6, taking into account the the aggravation of epidemiological situation, a special quarantine regime was introduced again in a Lankaran and Sheki cities and Jalilabad, Bilasuvar, Gakh, Zagatala, Masalli, Ismailli, Guba and Khachmaz regions.

Azerbaijan registered its first COVID-19 case on February 28 and introduced the special quarantine regime on March 24.

It should be noted that, as of November 6, Azerbaijan, the nation of ten million has registered 62,338 COVID-19 cases and 811 coronavirus-related deaths. Over 47,270 people have recovered from the disease.
