Mexican Senate displays work of Azerbaijani artist

"Karabakh on my mind" exhibition by Azerbaijani artist and architect Yaver Rzayev was held in Mexican Senate on October 23.

Artist's 11 interesting works reflecting the history and landscape of Karabakh, an integral part of Azerbaijan were displayed at the exhibition.

Representatives of Mexican Congress and country's officials, members of the diplomatic corps as well as Vice-president of Senate Jose Rosas Arispuro took part in the event.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate Gabriela Cuevas Barron said that the exhibition shows Azerbaijan's cultural diversity and support to dialogue among civilizations.

Thanking the artist, the chairman stressed that Rzayev is a very outstanding architect and artist, whose works are featured in many cultural festivals of the world.

Azerbaijani Ambassador Ilgar Mukhtarov, in turn, highlighted the importance of this exhibition, saying this will lead to strengthening bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Mexican cultures.

Noting his satisfaction with opening of the exhibition, the ambassador underlined the love and feelings which Rzayev shows in his works.

Saying that Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions, Mukhtarov stressed that seeking a peaceful settlement for the conflict is the manifestation of human nature.

Then, the vice-president and other 10 senate representatives cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the ceremony. The exhibition of the talented artist will last till October 31.

Books and brochures related to Azerbaijan's history, culture and cuisine were also put on display. The guests also had an opportunity to enjoy the taste of various goodies of Azerbaijan and Mexican national cuisine.

Rzayev, living in Washington since 2000 has made Azerbaijan popular among the American art lovers. For this period, Yavar, who arrived in Washington at the invitation of Americans acquainted with his works in Baku, has already taken part in many exhibitions. His works were exhibited in the famous Dupont Gallery in Washington.
