A festival of decorative and applied arts has kicked off in the German-Azerbaijan cultural center Kapellhaus based in Baku on June 4.

The event puts on display various samples of arts and crafts, including artistic embroidery, carpet weaving, jewelry, ceramics, knitting, macramé, carving, sculpture, batik, stained glass, beading, and so on.

The festival organizers Konul Allahverdiyeva and Tarana Jafarova noted that the festival has brought together over 40 artists.

"The festival is aimed at making the public familiar with samples of arts and crafts, as well as providing an opportunity for craftsmen to show their works," they emphasized.

Among the participants of the festival, there are both masters, and those who are presenting their works for the first time; in a one word - the event brought together people of different ages and professions.

The oldest participant of the festival, 83-years-old Zarifa Seidaliyeva notes that she has been engaged in applied art since childhood.

"I have participated in many exhibitions. Now the youth is interested in arts and crafts, and I share my experiences and knowledge with them," she said.

One of the youngest participants of the festival, Gunay Vidayatova has arrived from Sheki.

"I am participating in the exhibition organized in Baku for the first time. I got acquainted with the exhibited works earlier. They are all very interesting. I am glad that I am among the participants of the festival," Gunay said.

The festival will run until June 5. The entrance is free of charge.
