The International Organization of Turkic Culture, TURKSOY, has organized a series of concerts featuring works by composers from the Turkic world in the Black Sea region of Turkey,AzerTag state news agency reported.

The concerts held in Ordu, Samsun and Trabzon saw performance by Azerbaijani soloist Nigar Jabiyeva and Turkish Demet Gurhan accompanied by Kazakhstan's Karaganda Symphony Orchestra.

After a concert in Trabzon, TURKSOY's Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov and city governor Abdil Celil said such projects were very important in terms of promoting the heritage of the Turkic composers.

The concert will also travel to Ankara, Bursa and Eskisehir.

TURKSOY, an international cultural organization of countries with Turkic populations whose speaking languages belong to the Turkic language family, has roots going back to the 1992 meetings in Baku and Istanbul, where the ministers of culture from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan declared their commitment to cooperate in a joint cultural framework. TURKSOY was subsequently established by an agreement signed on July 12, 1993, in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Meetings of TURKSOY artists have been held since 1997, and works created by the artists are stored in the TURKSOY art collection.
