Azerbaijan needs to prepare animators
By Sabina Idayatova
Animated film producers engaged the leadership of the country in
dialogue, head of Azerbaijan's National Television and Radio
Council (NTRC) Nushiravan Maharramli said on November 29.
Maharramli noted that there is not enough staff to shoot national
cartoons in Azerbaijan.
"First of all, staff should be prepared. It would be sufficient, to
prepare at least 15-20 animators within a year. During the first
year staff should be prepared, then the next year it would be
possible to start filming cartoons," he said.
Furthermore, Maharramli said that funds are needed for producing cartoons.
"Let these funds be allocated to existing entities, the point is shooting the cartoons that our TV channels will show. There is a vacuum in this area. Our children are educated not through our national cartoons. But over time, this issue will be resolved," he said.
Maharramli also addressed shortcomings in the translation of foreign cartoons.
"Unfortunately, this fact exits. This is due to the lack of professionalism at our television channels. The people working there should understand that they translate cartoons," the head of the National Council said.
According to Maharramli, cartoons intended for adult audiences in foreign countries are sometimes displayed on Azerbaijani TV channels.
"This is not right. Due to unprofessional translation a number of problems are raised. We hope that nationally produced cartoons will replace foreign cartoons on our TV channels.
One or two cartoons are shot in a year sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. That is, over the past 6-7 years, 14 -15 cartoons were shot but we unfortunately have not seen them on our screens. I would like our TV channels to show them," he said.
