A jazz concert by Shahin Novrasli, a recognized jazzman and Azerbaijani Honored Artist, and his special guest, Janita, a famous performer from Finland, was held at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku on October 20.

The "Bayati" project was organized to further the promotion of Azerbaijani music, bringing together various cultures and traditions.

The concert included pieces composed by Novrasli, as well as jazz improvisations of Azerbaijani folk and classic tunes. The event also featured famous singer Janita with a set of pieces of her own.

Novrasli, 36, entered the music world in his early childhood, as his first solo performances with the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall were presented at the age of 11.

Following the insistent requests of his mentors, Shahin continued his studies at the Bulbul Musical School followed by classes at the Baku Music Academy. Masterfully synthesizing the folk Azerbaijani tunes with jazz, Shahin is known for his magic ability to merge the East and the West in his compositions.

A unique blend of a jazz trio with folk performers he arranged involving Nathan Peck, Alexander Mashin together with Nurlan and Arslan Novrasli resulted in the Abadi Yol (An Eternal Path) project followed by a set of solo performances based on Clajamu, Mozart and Bach compositions successfully presented in a number of countries all over the world.

Shahin succeeded in performing and making joint albums with a number of worldwide recognized artists such as Kennie Willer, Uday Mazumdar, Alisson Miller, Nathan Peck, Alex, Peck, Mat Zebroski, Jeff Lederer, John Wikan, and Sasha Mashin.

Janita, the concert's special guest, is a singer and composer with a number of solo albums, some of them cited in Finland's Top 40.
