By Nigar Orujova
Songs of remarkable Azerbaijani singer and composer Muslim Magomayev will be performed at gala-concerts of three Russian baritones, David Gvinianidze, Yuri Salzman and Sergey Plyusnin, as part of a program called "My Love, melody". The grand concerts will be held from August until December in Russia and Ukraine, according to the "Talents of the world" Foundation's website.
The concerts will take place in Pyatigorsk, Yeysk, Taganrog, Sevastopol, Yalta, Odessa and many other cities.
"My Love, melody", named the same as Magomayev's autobiography, is a tribute to the talent of the acclaimed artist and performer. It was designed and staged by the Talents of the World President David Gvinianidze.
The "My Love, melody" project was first implemented in late November 2008, a month after the death of the prominent singer.
Magomayev, an inimitable baritone with high artistry, conquered the hearts of more than one generation of admirers, and his voice still rings in the ears of listeners.
Performance of his songs is not easy, as the range of his capabilities was extremely broad -- from opera and musicals to Neapolitan songs, and the vocal works of Azerbaijani and Russian composers, according to Magomayev's official website.
Magomayev became known as early as at the age of 19, after a performance at a youth festival in Helsinki, and, at age 31, he was conferred the highest award of the USSR, the People's Artist title. For decades, the singer has been the idol of millions of people and was considered to be the "Soviet Frank Sinatra".
Magomayev was born on August 17, 1942 in Baku to a well-known and respected family. He was named after his grandfather, a proclaimed composer, conductor and pianist, who wrote two operas - "Shah Ismail" and "Nargiz" - and was the founder of Azerbaijani classical music. Baku Philharmonic Hall is named after him.
Muslim Magomayev not only followed in the footsteps of his remarkable relative, but also made the family name even more famous in Azerbaijan and far beyond.
"Talents of the world" is a major concert organization in Russia, which successfully brings the beauty of vocal classical music to a wide-ranging audience.
The Foundation works to develop projects, the intellectual and spiritual potential of people, to restore and promote the lost traditions of Russian vocal art, and draw the attention of a wider audience to the inexhaustible treasury of world opera classics.
