The Symphony Orchestra of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater has been honored to perform at the closing gala concert of the Gut Immling opera festival to be held in Germany on August 8-13, 2013.

Orchestra will be conducted by People's Artist of Azerbaijan, professor Javanshir Jafarov, as well as art director and chief conductor of the Gut Immling opera festival Cornelia von Kerssenbrock.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan will support the participation of the Azerbaijani Symphony Orchestra at the festival.

Head of the festival Ludwig Baumann has officially invited the management of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre to participate in the event.

The Symphony Orchestra, which is participating in the festival for the fifth time, has consistently received high reviews from the organizers of the festival, as well as music critics and the German media.

Along with the works of Western composers, the orchestra will perform works of the Azerbaijani composers Uzeyir Hajibeyov, Gara Garayev and Fikret Amirov.

One of the most prestigious European festivals of opera, which is performed annually in the Gut Immling, will bring together opera stars, conductors and directors from 34 countries of Europe, the United States, Latin America and Japan this year.

Performances and concerts within the festival traditionally have full house and are largely covered by media of Germany and Europe.

The invitation of the Azerbaijani symphony orchestra to Germany to participate in such a prestigious festival for the fifth time is, in fact, a clear indication of the high professional level of the orchestra and the academic art of Azerbaijan.

Initiated in 1997 by bass-baritone opera singer Ludwig Baumann, the festival is held in Bavaria. Every year, newly composed operas together with the classics by Mozart, Puccini, or Verdi are staged. Alongside performances, introductory workshops and arts exhibitions are also organized.
