Days of Azerbaijani Culture due in Cannes in July

The French Riviera city of Cannes will host the first festival presenting various facets of the abundant Azerbaijani culture this summer.

First deputy mayor, President of the Palais des Festivals and Congresses of Cannes, David Lisnard, who is visiting Azerbaijan's capital, Baku, said that the Days of Azerbaijani Culture will be held on July 4-20 and as part of the Days of Culture, monuments of Azerbaijani culture figures will be showcased along the world-famous Boulevard de la Croisette in Cannes.

Lisnard said the Azerbaijani festival in Cannes, a great cultural event, will be an important step for the relationship between the two nations and countries.

He also noted that Baku has great advantages, which enables the city to be an organizer of major events.

According to him, there are monuments of antiquity and modern infrastructure in Baku, and the main task is to maintain the originality of the city.

"Cannes became world-famous due to the preservation of its identity. I believe the uniqueness of Baku must be preserved as well," Lisnard said.

Lisnard noted the importance of appreciating the favorable geographical position of Baku and said that most importantly, culture should be preserved and developed in order to popularize the city.

While in Baku, Lisnard presented the tourism potential of Cannes along with the heads of the largest hotels in the city.

He also held a number of meetings with Azerbaijani businessmen, in particular, with the leaders of tourism campaigns, and announced his intention to work closely with them.
