Baku forum to promote Azeri-Georgian cultural cooperation
A forum on intangible cultural heritage in Baku will promote the development of Azerbaijani-Georgian cooperation in protecting cultural heritage in Georgian and Azerbaijani museums, chairman of the Georgian National Committee of the International Council of Museums Inga Karaya was quoted by Azerbaijan's state news agency Azertag as saying.
Speaking to journalists prior to the international forum, titled "Cooperation between museum communities and government agencies to protect and promote intangible cultural heritage", in Baku on Monday, Karaya praised the event. Karaya noted that every year, Georgian and Azerbaijani museum experts pay reciprocal visits and also said the two countries are cooperating closely in all areas and implementing a number of joint projects.
The Baku forum was attended by representatives of the National Committees of the International Council of Museums of Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, and a UNESCO expert for the intangible cultural heritage.
Karaya emphasized the importance of the forum for studying and resolving issues related to the protection of intangible cultural heritage.
Next month the Georgian capital Tbilisi will host an
international seminar on these issues, which will be joined by
experts from Australia and Austria, as well as representatives of
Azerbaijani museums. The workshop will focus on various
recommendations and methods on the protection of intangible
cultural heritage.
