Azeri Mugham singer shines in UK
Azerbaijani Mugham (national folk music) singer Nazakat Teymurova has given a concert in London as part of the WOMAD festival.
Teymurova was accompanied by Aliaga Sadiyev (tar), Elnur
Mikayilov (kamancha) and Shirzad Fataliyev (balaban).
UNESCO expert Sanubar Bagirova organized the performance of the
Azerbaijani Mugham singer.
Teymurova gave interviews to a number of local magazines and
newspapers.
London Evening Standard's Simon Broughton wrote in an
article, "The most profound vocals came from Azerbaijan's Nazakat
Teymurova."
Teymurova was invited to London Public Library, where she presented her CDs.
WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance) is an internationally established festival which brings together artists from all over the globe. The main goal of the festival is to celebrate the world's many forms of music, arts and dance.
