A music festival featuring both classical and folk music started on July 24 in the northern Azerbaijani region of Gabala.

Musicians from a number of countries are participating in the fourth such festival, which is organized annually by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

A concert of world-famous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be organized as part of the festival.

A concert of the Symphonic Orchestra named after Uzeyir Hajibayli conducted by Rauf Abdullayev and Azad Aliyev will be held within the festival as well. The anniversary of Fikrat Amirov, a prominent Azerbaijani composer of the Soviet period, will be celebrated on July 26 and a vocal concert is due on July 27. Also, a concert of the Orchestra of Baku Music Academy will take place, featuring performances by Yegana Akhundova, Murad Huseynov and Murad Adigozalov.

The 100-year anniversary of maestro Niyazi will be marked on July 29; concerts of Farhad Badalbayli, Murad Adigozalov and Dmitry Yablonsky will be held on July 30, a concert of Yuri Bashmet - on August 1, and a concert of Boris Berezovsky on August 2. Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will give concerts on July 31 and August 3. Charles Dutoit, Lisa de la Salle and Michal Nesterowicz will perform at the concerts. The festival will end with the performances of Murad Adigozalov, Farhad Badalbayli and Teymur Suleymanbayli on August 5.

Numerous cultural projects implemented in Azerbaijan in the last few years on the initiative and with the support of First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Heydar Aliyev Fundation and UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, have made a tremendous contribution to developing and promoting Azerbaijan`s cultural legacy and national art.
