Baku Crystal Hall to ensure unforgettable experience for contest viewers
The Baku Crystal Hall complex, which will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in the Azerbaijani capital Baku in May, will be equipped with numerous multi-colored lighting effects.
About 45,000 diamonds shining in different colors will be placed on the facade of the complex, Switzerland-based company Nussli, which is a partner in the complex construction project, told Azerbaijan`s Trend news agency.
``The facade will also be used for the show itself. It will be even possible to display colors of the flag of the country whose participant will be announced and will go on stage. The design inside will be completed following the requirements from the EBU [European Broadcasting Union],`` the company said.
The main difference of this hall from other facilities is that from the outside it has an appearance of the so-called ``Baku Crystal``, which is a crystal shining during the night.
Most of the work on building the complex has been completed. By mid-April, the Brainpool company`s representatives will arrive in Baku to start setting the light and preparing video monitors and the stage for the show.
Building this fantastic hall in such a short time was only possible due to three independent components which were designed, procured, produced and erected on site in parallel. These components are the Modular Stadia as the heart of the complex, followed by the inner roof and the outer facade.
The Baku Crystal Hall, which is under construction near the National Flag Square, has 23,000 seats, and another 16,000 viewers will be able to watch the semifinals and the final on large monitors.
The Eurovision 2012 semi-finals will be held on May 22 and 24, and the final on May 26.
Azerbaijan won the right to host the prestigious European song contest after the victory of Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal (Ell/Nikki) at Eurovision 2011 in Dusseldorf, Germany last May.
