The delegation of the European Union and embassies of the EU member states in Azerbaijan will hold the European Movie Festival 2011 in Baku on October 6-10, according to the EU office in the country.
The festival, which will run at Park Cinema in downtown Baku, will not only present modern European movies but also host world renowned European film directors and actors.
The program includes screening of 11 films from 12 European Union countries represented in Azerbaijan - Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, United Kingdom and a joint endeavor from Greece and France.
The films are selected to suit all the audiences. The young generation will be particularly interested in the movies from the UK and Czech Republic aimed at teenagers.
The guests of the festival will include French film director Olivier Horlait, Austrian film director Michael Glawogger, Polish director Marek Lechki, German documentarians Stefan Kolbe and Chris Wright, Lithuanian director Inesa Kurklietyte, and Greek actor Gennadios Patsis. The audience will be given a chance to participate in interactive discussions with the guests after the movies.
Entrance to all the films is free. The free tickets will be available from Park Cinema at Park Boulevard located on the seaside park of the Azerbaijani capital, at Neftchilar Avenue, from October 3.
The European Movie Festivals now turning into annual events in Azerbaijan serve to building and developing the cultural links existing between the European Union countries and Azerbaijan and to contributing to better understanding of the European values through the European movie industry.
