Days of Egyptian culture start in Azerbaijan
The Days of Egyptian Culture have started in Azerbaijan with the
support of the Egyptian embassy in Baku and the Ministry of Culture
and Tourism.
A 21-member delegation of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture is in Azerbaijan for the purpose, under an agreement signed between the two countries.
The opening ceremony was held at the State Theater of Song named after Rashid Behbudov on Sunday.
The exhibition of Egyptian artists held on Monday as well as the performance of the Tannura national dance group was met by spectators with great interest. Similar events will be held in Sumgayit city as well.
Egyptian Ambassador Youssef ElSharkawy told reporters that the goal of the event was to develop cultural relations between the two Islamic countries. Azerbaijani culture workers are expected to pay a reciprocal visit in 2009.
