Calendar with gifted Azeri children’s drawings released
BAKU – A calendar containing talented children’s drawings has been released in Azerbaijan.
The 2011 calendar, titled "Azerbaijani tales in children’s eyes" and published in Azeri and English, was presented on Saturday. It contains drawings selected through a contest organized in the capital Baku and Ganja, the country’s second largest city, by the Development and World Public Union and the Azerbaijan Union of Artists.
Namazali Mustafayev, head of the public union, said the goal of releasing such a calendar was to present paintings by gifted children and teenagers to a broad audience and to promote Azerbaijani tales, a fascinating peace of the country’s folklore heritage.
Natig Isayev, a department head at the Copyrights Agency, said reflecting local lore in drawings and recreating those images should become a public duty for citizens. Isayev said the agency had facilitated the publication of the calendar and would continue to support such endeavors in the future.
General Director of AssA-Irada news agency Fazil Abbasov welcomed children’s participation in such projects, saying these initiatives will help to nurture their talent.
The calendar includes paintings by artists from T. Ismayilov Children and Youth Creativity Center, the Ganja-based children’s art school and Esmiralda art studio.
In conclusion of the presentation, diplomas and gifts were presented to the children whose paintings were included in the calendar.
