Azeri university hosts Indian Language Day
BAKU – The World Indian Language Day was marked at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) on Tuesday. The event was attended by Indian ambassador in Baku Debnath Shaw and AUL principal Samad Seyidov.
Seyidov said in his remarks that an Indian language center is operating under the university, which provided students with an opportunity to study the language for the first time in Azerbaijan’s history. He thanked Ambassador Shaw for his assistance in arranging the arrival of Indian language professor Mikesh Garjini to the country.
Shaw, for his part, expressed hope that the language center would step up its work in the future.
A documentary about the Indian language was screened as part of the event. Also, AUL students sang songs in this language and Indian dances were performed. Participants also familiarized themselves with the Indian cuisine.
