Azeri oil history to be showcased in Sweden
BAKU – An exhibition on 19th century oil production dedicated to the Nobel brothers’ activity in Azerbaijan will be held in Stockholm on Wednesday, ahead of the traditional ceremony to award Nobel prizes.
"The Nobels and Baku Oil" exhibition will display photos depicting the Nobel brothers’ legacy, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said.
The event is being organized at the initiative of Nobel Family Society.
Ludvig and Robert Nobel, who hail from Stockholm, founded the Nobel Brothers company in Baku in 1879 and launched oil production and exports. During the Czarist Russia period, the company produced 20 percent of oil and refined 49 percent of kerosene in the Russian Empire.
