Police attacker nabbed in Ganja
The individual who committed an armed attack on police officers last week has been detained.
Khanlar Mammadov was nabbed by the police in his native town of Ganja early on Thursday, law enforcement sources said.
The outlaw did not show resistance during his apprehension. A Makarov gun was impounded from him during a search. Mammadov was brought to the capital pending the investigation.
At about 10.00 a.m. last Wednesday, an unidentified individual entered a police precinct in the area known as the 20th section in the Sabayil district of Baku, opening fire and wounding police lieutenant Imdad Nazarov. A real estate broker who was in the police department at the time was killed. The outlaw then went to the home of another police officer overseeing the area, Zakir Sadykhov, heavily injuring him and his spouse with gun shots.
It has been ascertained that Mammadov, Sadykhov's close relative, committed the crimes over property-related discrepancies. Investigators presume that the mentioned broker, who had worked at an office dealing with the sales and purchases of housing, was not killed by mere chance and was also involved in the dispute.
