At the initiative of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Belgium, the Free University of Brussels and the Paris Institute of Oriental Languages ​​and Civilizations (INALCO) have organized a scientific colloquium “Imadedin Nasimi and world literature” in Brussels.

The event was dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Imadaddin Nasimi and the Year of Nasimi in Azerbaijan, Trend Life reported.

Famous European and Azerbaijani scientists, including professors of Literature at the Free University of Brussels Arvi Sepp and Philip Humble, employee of the Azerbaijan Institute of Oriental Studies, Ph.D. in philology Saadat Shikhiyeva and teacher at the Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations, doctor of sciences in linguistics Aygun Eyyubova, as well as representatives of the diplomatic mission, Azerbaijani students-rainees in the European Parliament attended the scientific colloquium.

The book “Imadeddin Nasimi” published in English by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation was transferred to the library of the Free University of Brussels. Aygun Eyyubova also presented a book about Nasimi in French.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Belgium Fuad Isgandarov in his speech spoke about the cultural significance of the socio-cultural peacebuilding policy of Azerbaijan, which promotes the development and harmonization of cultures and interests of the peoples of Europe and Asia, the growth of mutual understanding and international cooperation throughout the world.

Saadat Shikhiyeva presented an interesting illustrated report on the theme “The influence of Imadaddin Nasimi on world poetry”.

Aygun Eyyubova spoke with another interesting presentation on the topic “Imadeddin Nasimi: Heritage in Time: Greatness, Research, Memory”. Fuad Mammadov presented a report on the theme "Cultural portrait of Imadaddin Nasimi in the mirror of world humanism."

The report of Fuad Mammadov, innovative in its content and systemic cultural analysis, was linked to the philosophy of the life of the great Azerbaijani thinker and humanist, as well as modern problems of the culture of international relations, human and global development, and the productive socio-cultural policy of Azerbaijan.

The report covered a fragment dedicated to the anniversary of Nasimi, a culturological master class "Path to Excellence", carried out by Fuad Mammadov in accordance with the project "Cultural Studies and Sustainable Development" in state structures, universities and non-governmental organizations of Azerbaijan and Turkey, with the support of the Council on State Support to NGOs under the President of Azerbaijan.

There were also meetings and conversations of Azerbaijani scientists on national and world culture with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Belgium Fuad Isgandarov and Azerbaijan’s representative in NATO Gaya Mammadov and others.

In an interview with Trend Life, Fuad Mammadov spoke about his cultural studies of the creative work of Nasimi, and also shared his impressions of the colloquium.

“Imadeddin Nasimi is definitely a bright star on the horizon of world spiritual culture. Demonstrating spiritual kinship with the great humanists of Asia and Europe, he embodied high morality and courage, the desire for self-knowledge and self-improvement, the development of human dignity and creative activity”, said Mammadov.

Speaking about the era in which the great Nasimi lived and worked, Mammadov said that each scientist, thinker, poet or writer is influenced by the spirit and ideological requirements of his or her time. However, some of them, relying on reason and free intellectual search, proclaim nontrivial ideas that are ahead of their time and create creative works of scientific or humanitarian value that become the property of all humanity. One of these extraordinary people, whose ideas have passed the test of time, is the bright representative of the Azerbaijani spiritual culture of the14th century Imadaddin Nasimi.

Mammadov also spoke about his report.

“For the first time, I have set myself an innovative task to study deeper the philosophy of life and to compile an ideological portrait of the great Azerbaijani thinker and poet, humanist Imadaddin Nasimi based on a systematic culturological analysis of his personality. So, I have familiarized myself with 66 different sources devoted to the life of Nasimi,” said Mammadov.

He tried to place the main emphasis on the brilliant idea of ​​Nasimi about the need to perfect a man created by God in his own image and likeness and endowed with divine qualities.
