Italian actor and director, known for his role in the film "La Piovra", Remo Girone held master class in Baku.

The event was organized as part of the first ever Italian-Azerbaijan Film Festival with the support of Ca ’Foscari University of Venice and Azerbaijan University of Culture and Arts.

President of the festival, jury chairman of Zoroaster Award Remo Girona and his spouse Argentinean actress of Italian origin Victoria Zinny, festival's artistic director, filmmaker and screenwriter Claudio Rossi Massimi, head of Imago Group Lucia Machaleni, and Head of United Cultures Paola Casagrande attended the meeting with the youth, Trend Life reported.

At the meeting, it was told about the development of modern and, in particular, Italian cinema.

Remo Girone also spoke about his work. Initially, he studied economics and trade. In 1971, he moved to the Silvio D’Amico National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome.

He made his film debut in 1974 in the film "Rome wants another Caesar" by a Hungarian director Miklós Jancsó.

In 1977, he received an invitation from the Italian director Pasquale Squitieri to play in the film "Corleone". In this film, Remo Girone starred together with Giuliano Gemma, Claudia Cardinale, Michele Placido and Francisco Rabal.

This was his first mafia role. Remo Girone gained world fame in the 80-90s as he played Tano Carridi in TV series about the Italian mafia " La Piovra ". He starred in more than 60 films, played many roles on the theater stage. In 1991, he made his debut as a film director.

The meeting also discussed the role of Ca ’Foscari University of Venice in the development of Italian cinema. Short films by university students were screened at the event.

First ever Italian-Azerbaijan Film Festival will run until January 30.

The festival is taking place at Nizami Cinema Center and Landmark's Cine Club.

The event was co-organized by the Imago Group and Sandro Teti Editore, the United Culture Center, with the support of the Culture Ministry of Azerbaijan.

The film screenings are divided into three parts - Italian, Azerbaijani and international.

The festival presents the work of both beginners and famous directors from around the world.

The main purpose of the event is to identify young talents, to create a platform for the exchange of experience between directors from different countries. Guests of the festival will be actors and directors from around the world. The festival program is also full of seminars, creative debates, meetings.

Fifteen selected films by Azerbaijani and Italian juries will be screened during the festival.

Winners will be awarded with special prize "Zoroaster Award" on January 30.

The prizes will be also given in various nominations: The Best Feature Italian Film, The Best Feature Azerbaijani Film, The Best Feature International Film, The Best International Documentary, The Best Director, The Best Actor, The Best Cameraman, The Best Music.
