The event with the participation of the winners of a literary contest dedicated to the memory of Imadaddin Nasimi was held in Shamakhi near Nasimi’s monument on September 28.

The contest was organized by the Ministry of Culture as part of "The Word" literary project, Day.Az reported.

The event was held as part of the Nasimi Festival of Poetry, Arts, and Spirituality.

The festival, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, is held in Azerbaijan for the first time on September 27-30.

The head of the literary project "The Word" Nigar Hasanzade noted that the young poets presented works inspired by the genius of Nasimi.

"The first ever the Nasimi Festival of Poetry, Arts, and Spirituality, which is held on the initiative of the Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Leyla Aliyeva, is a significant event in the cultural life of the country. It is a great honor for us to take part in such a grand festival that also helps young talents. As part of the festival, a poetry contest was held. The contest brought together about a hundred young poets, of which fifteen reached the final. The works were not only in Azerbaijani, but English and Russian," said Hasanzade.

On September 30, at the closing ceremony of the festival, Baku Media Center will present a very interesting program - a literary and musical composition based on the poetry of Imadaddin Nasimi with the participation of famous actors Mehriban Zeki, Parviz Mammadrzayev, Melek Abbaszadeh, Gyulzar Gurbanova and Tural Ahmed.

Notably, Nasimi Festival of Poetry, Arts, and Spirituality is held under the slogans "Beyond the Limited Self", reflecting the philosophical views of the poet, and "I am a Particle, I am the Sun" which are the poet’s lines.

Exhibitions, installations, video projections, fashion show, concerts are organized as part of the festival.

The project is implemented on an international scale with the participation of world-famous singers, philosophers, scientists who write about spirituality in modern society, as well as professionals, amateurs in this field and young people.
