The year 2017 marks the 90th anniversary of People's Artist Asaf Jafarov.

Jafarov was famous master of the brush. He created portraits of famous art figures, including composer Arif Melikov, artist Sattar Bahlulzade, playwright, poet Jafar Jabbarli, singer Rashid Behbudov and many others.

He also loved to draw Absheron landscapes - Stone Fences, Mashtagi Village, Absheron's Golden Sands, Hot Day, Winter in Baku, Inzhyr Bush, Spring and Evening Motive are just few works in his Absheron series.

The artist traveled a lot, visited, in particular, European countries. He was a participant of numerous exhibitions around the world.

To honor the memory of the great painter, an exhibition was opened at the Azerbaijan National Art Museum.

The exhibition was organized by the Culture and Tourism Ministry,Trend Life reported.

Chairman of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan, People's Artist Farhad Khalilov, the rector of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts, the People's Artist Omar Eldarov, the Vice-Rector of the Academy, the People's Artist Fuad Salayev, the Head of the Applied and Decorative Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Ghalib Gasimov and other guests addressed the event and spoke about the creativity of Asaf Jafarov.

They stressed that Asaf Jafarov was a very talented, gifted painter. Even at an early stage of the artist's creative activity, his works were included in the Tretyakov Gallery's fund.

Then the participants of the event got acquainted with the exhibition featuring the works of Jafarov kept in the Azerbaijan National Art Museum, Azerbaijan State Art Gallery, and also from the collection of the artist's family.
