A tip of ancient weapon has been found in Tovuz region.

Kamaladdin Aliyev, resident of Hunan village, discovered the ferrule during fishing near the Kura river, ARB 24 reported.

Some historians suspect that ancient finding belongs to the Iron Age as it is made of copper and bronze.

Sabir Mammadov, a teacher, thinks that the item refers to the Hun tribes.

"The copper has survived for a long time because of its erosion resistance, but since it is found in riverbed, I belong to the Hun tribes. During the reign of Sheikh Shamil, there were struggles against the Udins who lived here," he said.

Archaeological excavations have also been carried out in this area during the Soviet era. Residents claim that there were precious stones and treasures among the finds.

Kamaladdin Aliyev said he will search the area. After research, he will transfer the finding to any state museum.

However, experts do not think it's right to excavate the area near to water.

In their opinion, the staff of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography should be sent to the area.
