The next stage of the "Mobile Library" project, encouraging the young to read more and offering free hard-paper and electronic books to them, has been launched in Azerbaijan.

The project is implemented by Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations' Union (ASYOU) with the support of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Youth and Sport.

Youth and Sport Minister Azad Rahimov, Assistant to Azerbaijan’s First Vice-President, head of the department of youth policy and sport issues at the Presidential Administration, Yusuf Mammadaliyev and others attended the event, Trend reported.

The project was launched in 2013 with the participation of Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva. So far, the project travelled to Ganja, Mingachevir, Lankaran, Sheki, Shirvan, Guba, Astara, Barda, Gazakh, Tovuz, Sabirabad, Zagatala, Shamakhi, Goychay, Jalilabad, Bilasuvar, Gusar, Khachmaz, Gadabay, Shamkir, Gabala, Ismayilli and Naftalan, covering thousands of readers.

Rahimov, commenting on the project, said that over the past years the mobile library has travelled to many regions of the country, where it operated for 15-16 days.

"The mobile library proved its success and was met with great interest in all regional centers. Over 15,000 requests related to books in Azerbaijani, English and Russian languages have been already received,” the minister said.

The "Mobile Library" project offers 5,000 hard paper books and 10,000 electronic publications. The library also has textbooks available to students. An electronic catalog of publications is also available in the library to facilitate the readers' work.

The mobile library is equipped with two notebooks, widescreen TVs, generators, air conditioning systems and other technical facilities.

The minister stressed that the work is underway over a new project related to the mobile library. “With the use of a special communication tool, one will be able to read library books without leaving home,” he said.

The "Mobile Library" now will meet with book lovers of the Balakan region.

The region has been selected as the "Youth Capital 2017", and the bookmobile has been sent to the region.
