A regional workshop entitled "Jewelry art in the museum space: yesterday, today and tomorrow" kicked off at Azerbaijan's Carpet Museum on January 25.

The three-day event is co-organized by the National Committee ICOM-Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, the National Committee ICOM-Georgia and Dagestan Museum of Fine Arts named after P. S. Gamzatova, (Makhachkala, Russia) ,

The grand event has brought together jewelers, designers, artists in precious metals and stones, jewelry brands, restorers, representatives of the security service of museums, marketing managers from Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russia.

Director of the Azerbaijan carpet Museum, Chairman of the ICOM Azerbaijan Shirin Melikov, addressing the event stressed that the art of jewelry occupies a prominent place in the history of culture of the Caucasus nations.

Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan Sevda Mammadaliyeva, directors of the Dagestan Museum of Fine Arts and Georgian State Museum of Folk and Applied Art Salikhat Gamzatova and Izolda Melikishvili also addressed the event .

Shirin Melikova presented certificates to the masters whose works are on displayed at the exhibition.

The event also featured exhibition and sale of jewelry.

Azerbaijan’s Carpet Museum established in Baku in 1967, being the first carpet museum in the world is the very place that can familiarize all the interested with the unique examples of the national carpets.

A new carpet museum, designed in the form of a rolled carpet, opened in the Baku Seaside Park in 2014 and all carpets were transferred to this museum.
