UNESCO interested in implementing projects with Azerbaijan in several fields

Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova has expressed the organization`s interest in implementing projects with Azerbaijan in a variety of fields as she met with Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev in Paris, Azertac reported.

Irina Bokova hailed the importance of the recent high-level gathering of the Baku Process working group.

The officials exchanged views on the ways of expanding cooperation in the fields of culture and heritage, Baku Process initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and the 4th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue to be held next year.

Minister Qarayev stressed the important role of Azerbaijani first lady, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva in developing relations between Azerbaijan and UNESCO.

Irina Bokova also emphasized outstanding contribution of Azerbaijan and Mehriban Aliyeva to UNESCO's activities, as well as to the protection of cultural heritage in her own country and in many other member countries.

The 3rd meeting of culture and tourism ministers of the world will be held as part of the 4th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue to be held in Baku on May 5-6, 2017, Trend reported.

The World Forums on Intercultural Dialogue became an international platform to enable and encourage people, countries and organizations around the globe to take concrete actions to support diversity, dialogue and mutual understanding among nations by raising awareness on the importance of intercultural dialogue worldwide.

The Forums organized so far have reached remarkable achievements by bringing together head of governments, ministers, heads of various international organizations, senior policy makers, cultural professionals, goodwill ambassadors, experts, journalists, practitioners, prominent intellectuals and activists.
