New Azercell president appointed
A new president of Azerbaijan`s leading cellular
operator, Azercell, has been appointed. Ali Agan, who has held the
position of Azercell Telecom LLC Vice President since May 2008,
will take the post.
Tero Kivisaari, the President of TeliaSonera Eurasia Group of Companies, said while commenting this new appointment that a wide range of significant events have taken place at Agan`s initiative in this period.
"I am confident that in his capacity as the President of the company, Mr. Ali Agan will continue his successful activities," Kivisaari said.
Halim Ates, who has headed Azercell in the past three years, will continue his career as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of TeliaSonera, one of the biggest European telecom companies.
TeliaSonera Eurasia Group of Companies manages the business of TeliaSonera, the leading telecommunications company in the Nordic and Baltic regions in Eurasia. TeliaSonera owns 58% of stock in Fintur Holdings BV, which holds 64.3% of shares in Azercell.
Azercell, which has been operating in the country since 1996, currently has 3.5 million subscribers.
