Europe approves duty-free Azeri exports
The European Commission (EC) has approved duty-free exports of
various goods from 16 developing countries, including Azerbaijan,
to the European Union.
The three South Caucasus states - Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia - as well as some South American and Asian countries will enjoy the benefits from early 2009 to the end of 2011. The measure is being implemented as part of Europe`s Generalized System of Preferences plan, the EC said in a statement.
European states are among Azerbaijan`s main trade partners. Italy, along with Russia, traded with Azerbaijan the most in the first half of 2008.
