One of Iran’s largest national air carriers – Iran Air plans to restore flights on the route Tehran-Baku-Tehran.
Company’s Baku office head Mojtaba Gholamian told Trend that negotiations are underway on restoring flights from Tehran to Baku in near future.
Previously, the flights were expected to be resumed from February, 2015. The company was carrying out flights to Baku every Thursday.
Moreover, Baku-Mashhad flight is expected to open soon and the negotiations on starting the flights on this route are at the final stage, according to media reports.
Iran Air company has carried out flights on Baku-Tehran-Baku and Baku-Tabriz-Baku routes since 1992. However, the company suspended the flights on the route in October 2014.
Earlier, Gholamian said Iran Air’s expenses in Azerbaijan were big and did not cover themselves. He said the airline’s activity in the country has been unprofitable, therefore the company suspended its activities in the country.

Its main bases are the Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport for international flights and Tehran Mehrabad Airport for domestic flights. It is headquartered on the grounds of Mehrabad Airport in Tehran.
