Bakcell presents newest WiMAX technology
Azerbaijan`s cellular operator Bakcell has demonstrated the newest
WiMAX technology at the 14th International Telecommunication and
Information Technologies Exhibition, BakuTel-2008, which opened in
Baku on Tuesday.
Wireless access to the Internet was provided on Bakcell`s stand by means of portative devices in test mode, with 16 Mbit/sec speed, which is several times faster than the speed of today`s mobile communication technologies.
The company is keen on introducing this technology, which can offer a number of multimedia services in the domestic market. The speed of data transfer in the network based on WIMAX is up to 70 Mbit/sec. On the basis of this technology, Bakcell subscribers will have the opportunity to take advantage of broadband Internet, video-navigation system and mobile TV, as well as to organize video-conferences and video-communication sessions by their mobile device.
Bakcell CEO Martin Quirke told the opening of the exhibition that it had opened up great opportunities for the company. Bakcell sees its participation at the event as an opportunity to show visitors and potential clients the novelties of cellular communication, as well as to acquaint existing and potential clients with its new services, campaigns and tariffs.
