New ICT project to link East and West
Preliminary discussions on a project to create an East-West
information link will be held during the annual international
telecommunications and ICT exhibition and conference, BakuTel,
scheduled in Baku in November, the communications ministry
said.
The project will link some 20 countries located in Western Europe and East Asia -- two regions with advanced information communication technologies.
Implementation of the project will provide an incentive to widespread application of ICT worldwide and boost overall regional economic development, experts say.
Under the project, an international commuting center and a global database will be set up in Azerbaijan, given the country`s suitable geographic location, heightened economic growth and, most importantly, its vast economic potential.
