Caspian Corridor Conference held in London
The Caspian Corridor Conference took place at London Stock Exchange, AzerTag state news agency reported.
Supported by London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), International Bank of Azerbaijan (IBA), Britain Azerbaijan Business Council (BABC), and Asia House, the Conference brought together the global leaders of governments, business, academia, and media to examine economic developments and opportunities in the region.
The Conference examined the region's growth engines and its close ties with the UK and London.
The Conference drew high-profile speakers from businesses across the region's highest performing sectors, and policy makers from the region and the UK, providing valuable connections for future engagements.
The Conference also looked at the specific paths ahead for the Caspian Corridor countries.
Charles Hendry, the British Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan stressed the importance of cooperation among the Caspian Corridor countries.
Member of the British parliament Baroness Elizabeth Symons praised the UK`s cooperation with the Caspian Corridor states, and hailed the projects carried out by Azerbaijan`s state oil firm, SOCAR, and Kazakh national oil company, KazMunayGas.
Chairman of the International Bank of Azerbaijan Jahangir Hajiyev expressed confidence that the Conference would contribute to strengthening the close ties between the Caspian Corridor countries.
Azerbaijani Energy Minister Natig Aliyev highlighted the country`s energy policy, saying that Azerbaijan had already become a reliable partner both in the region and on the international scene.
Aliyev touched upon the Trans-Anatolian pipeline project (TANAP), describing it as "a strong signal of Azerbaijan`s capability to implement large-scale projects that can change the energy picture of the region".
SOCAR Vice President Elshad Nasirov laid out the company`s priorities and future goals.
The Conference featured a round-table involving the Azerbaijani, Turkish, and Turkmen ambassadors in London.
Azerbaijani Ambassador Fakhraddin Gurbanov said the Conference would play a crucial role in the development of the UK`s relations with regional countries.
