Azerbaijan seeks to establish chamber of commerce in Spain
By Aynur Jafarova
Azerbaijan's embassy in Spain has initiated the establishment of
Azerbaijan-Spain chamber of commerce, AzerTag reported on November
26 citing Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Fund
(AZPROMO).
According to AZPROMO, the Azerbaijani embassy is studying
establishing the chamber and its potential.
The chamber will be tasked to increase the trade turnover between
the two countries, to attract Spanish companies to Azerbaijan, take
Azerbaijani goods to the Spanish market, to organize mutual
business forums, trade and investment missions and other events to
promote bilateral cooperation.
The initiative was a response to the great interest of Spanish
companies in Azerbaijan's market, numerous appeals of Spanish
companies to the embassy, benefits from the high technology and
know-how of Spain, beneficial investment projects in Spain and
other factors.
The chamber will provide information about the economy of Azerbaijan and Spain and business opportunities, an expanded contact base to find business partners, the latest news about tenders, projects and exhibitions, and consultations on legal and taxation requirements.
Spain recognized Azerbaijan's independence in December 1991.
Diplomatic relations were established in February 1992.
The trade turnover between the two countries amounted to about
$158.4 million in 2012.
