Turkish Airlines to apply bonus system for Azerbaijani tourism firms

Turkey's flagship air carrier Turkish Airlines, which previously refused to pay commissions to Azerbaijani travel companies, has decided on how it will cooperate with these companies.

Turkish Airlines will apply the bonus system for Azerbaijani tourism companies, head of the Tourism Association of Azerbaijan (AzTA) Nahid Baghirov told Trend news agency.

According to him, Turkish Airlines was paying commissions to Azerbaijani tourist companies. Under the new agreement, Turkish Airlines will instead of commissions, issue bonuses to tour companies, and each company will receive bonuses based on the number of tickets sold.

The payment of commissions is beneficial for Azerbaijani tourism companies, but the bonus system is used around the world, Baghirov added.

Turkish Airlines has promised that this bonus system would be more favorable in comparison with bonus systems used in other countries.

It should be noted that the refusal of Turkish Airlines to pay commissions to Azerbaijani travel companies has caused discontent. On February 12, Azerbaijani travel companies decided to stop selling Turkish Airlines tickets.
