New Georgian government seeks closer economic ties with Azerbaijan
The new government of Georgia wants to build closer economic relations and strengthen its cooperation with Azerbaijan, Georgian MP David Onopriashvili stated about this in Baku, where he attends the meeting of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly's Energy Security Committee.
"Georgia is closely involved in the implementation of energy projects in Azerbaijan and the future steps of official Tbilisi will be in the interests of both countries," he said.
Onopriashvili noted that development of the cooperation with Azerbaijan in energy sphere is one of the key priorities of the Georgian government`s policy. "Georgia is a transit country in transportation of Azerbaijan's hydrocarbon resources through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipelines, and this positively impacts the economic development," he said.
