Azerbaijani state airline to expand air fleet this year
Azerbaijani state airline AZAL has received its first A-340 passenger aircraft manufactured by Airbus, a source at Azerbaijan Airlines told Trend news agency on Thursday.
The source said that at present, the staff is being trained and the aircraft will soon enter service.
"Another plane of the same model will arrive in the country by April 2013," the source said.
Earlier, AZAL ordered four new E-190 aircraft from Brazilian Embraer SA. The total order was valued at $180.8 million. AZAL also plans to lease two used Embraer E-170 aircraft.
The source said Azerbaijan is expected to get aircraft manufactured by Embraer in the second half of the year.
"These aircraft are expected to be received this summer," it said.
