Mobile Monday (MoMo), a global community with over 60 chapters worldwide that was started in Finland almost a decade ago, organized the New Year - New Plans event in the Azerbaijani capital Baku on Monday to attract experienced, motivated and talented people through mass media. Participants discussed plans for the forthcoming year.
MoMo is a leading community platform of mobile industry visionaries, developers and influential individuals fostering brand neutral cooperation and cross-border people-to-people business opportunities through live networking events to demo products, share ideas and discuss trends from both local and global markets.
Its activities are organized by some 300 volunteers from around the world. Baku became the 123rd MoMo city in 2011.
Mobile Monday holds unofficial monthly meetings, networking events oriented for mobile communication and IT professionals.
The project group has already started developing the business plan for next year, the first phase of which envisions conducting polls among those involved in the field to determine the most popular mobile applications in Azerbaijan.
MoMo plans to attract companies interested in the project to take part in the organization's events. Thus, the developers will gain the opportunity to realize their ideas and set up their own business.
MoMo is supported in Baku by the World Bank's InfoDev project.
The main goal of MoMo in Azerbaijan is to accelerate innovations by means of applying local and world markets' technological innovations and introducing new projects and applications.
"MoMo will be a very important project in the business sphere of Azerbaijan. This mobile social network will bring new technologies to Azerbaijan and help establish new business through mobile technologies," says Elshan Musayev, the founder of MoMo Baku.
