Bulgaria eyes Azerbaijan’s construction and tourism sectors

Bulgaria is Azerbaijan's important partner and there are all the economic, political and legal prerequisites to develop economic relations, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Economic Development Niyazi Safarov said at the Azerbaijani-Bulgarian business forum in Baku on Monday.

"Trade and economic cooperation with Bulgaria is of great interest for Azerbaijan," he said. "There is a very positive trend in the development of economic relations between the two countries. The trade turnover increased by 2.9 per cent in 2011 compared to 2010."

Bulgarian Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova said that Bulgaria is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in various fields, including the construction industry and tourism.

"In particular, we are interested in participating in Baku White City projects and the construction of the winter and summer ski resort at Shahdag," she said at the business forum. "We want to know more about the projects in Azerbaijan where the Bulgarian construction companies may participate."

She stressed that Bulgaria is interested in developing long term economic relations with Azerbaijan.

At present, around 10 companies with Bulgarian capital work in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani entrepreneurs and companies, as well as representatives of 12 Bulgarian enterprises, including Bulgarian Construction Chamber, PST Holding, Euro Alliance Engineering and others attended the event.
