Development of Azerbaijan’s non-oil exports 'depends' on agricultural sector
Development of the non-oil sector in Azerbaijan mainly depends on the development of production in the country's regions, Secretary General of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan (NCEA), Mammadali Efendiyev told reporters on Monday.
"Mainly export of agricultural products is implied under the development of export of non-oil products," Efendiyev said.
He said it is important to use modern equipment and technology in the production of agricultural products so that the quality of exported products met international standards.
"Only then can domestic production take its place on the world markets," Efendiyev said. "Today Azerbaijan exports agricultural products to Europe, including juices and light industry products and souvenirs."
According to the State Statistics Committee, in the first nine months of 2012, value-added production in the non-oil sector grew compared to the same period of last year by 10.3 per cent and hit 50.3 per cent of the GDP.
