Azeri oil fund has no plans to buy Hungarian securities

Azerbaijan's state oil fund SOFAZ has no plans to invest in securities and other financial instruments in Hungary, it said on Monday.

The reports on the purchase of Hungarian securities by Azerbaijan came after the release of Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov, convicted in Hungary.

SOFAZ said it was necessary to clarify the issue regarding such false information prior to its publication.

SOFAZ assets as of July 1, increasing by 9.6 percent compared to the beginning of 2012 ($29.8 billion), amounted to $32.666 billion.

SOFAZ was established in 1999 and at that time its assets made up $271 million.
