Aliyev orders to repay Soviet-era deposits
President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree on granting individual lump-sum payments to the deposit holders of the former USSR Savings Bank who are Azerbaijani citizens.
According to the decree, the payments will be provided to the depositors from June 2012 to December 31, 2013.
1 billion manats ($1.27 billion) will be spent to pay out the funds, according to Ziyad Samadzada, chairman of the parliamentary committee on economic policy.
