Bridge to be built over Baku Bay
South Korea has submitted to Azerbaijan a feasibility study on the project aiming to build a bridge over the Caspian Sea that will link two settlements of Baku, Korean Ambassador Lee Ji Ha has said.
South Korea is expected to allocate about $1 billion for the construction of the 14.5 km bridge, which will connect the Bayil and Zykh settlements of the Azerbaijani capital.
"This is a very expensive project and the Azerbaijani side should pay for a certain part of the construction work itself," the ambassador said. "Currently, the Korean side is awaiting a specific response from Azerbaijan regarding the project."
Design and construction operations will be carried out over six years.
Passage of 40,000 ton ships under the overpass will be possible.
