Aliyev meets ITU chief
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev met on Wednesday Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Hamadoun Toure.
Toure praised Azerbaijan`s activity in information security, one of the world`s urgent problems. He said information and communication technologies were rapidly developing in the country. The Secretary General stressed the importance of Azerbaijan`s joining ITU`s African countries assistance campaign.
President Aliyev said the ICT sector, along with the oil and gas field, is one of the priorities of the government. Aliyev said Azerbaijan will actively participate in the regional projects both in the energy and information-communication technologies sectors.
He said Azerbaijan as a member of the International Telecommunication Union would successfully take part in all projects of the ITU.
The sides exchanged views on prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and International Telecommunication Union.
