Azeri-Pakistani economic relations to be mulled in Baku

The fifth session of the Intergovernmental Azerbaijan-Pakistan Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation will be held in Baku on Dec.6-7, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Pakistan told Trend on Friday.

Pakistani Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Asim Hussain, who heads the Commission from the Pakistani side, will also attend the meeting.

The Azerbaijani government has a concrete package of proposals on its development of cooperation with Pakistan. Baku is ready to boost economic and trade relations with the country and may increase the list of goods it exports there at the expense of oil products, lubricants, chemicals and certain types of agricultural products, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan Dashgin Shikarov said in an interview with Pakistan's publication Centreline.

Shikarov said that Azerbaijan plans to raise at the commission meeting the issue of resuming direct flights between the two countries, which will significantly improve the level of economic cooperation in the future.
