European Economic Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry (EEIG) is keen to promote investment in Azerbaijan's non-oil sector, EEIG Azerbaijan head Nizami Piriyev told journalists.

"Azerbaijan is attractive for investors," Piriyev said. "Some 83 billion manats (around $106 billion) has been invested in the country's economy over the past 10 years and it is estimated that 2012 will see an increase to 13.5 billion manats ($17.3 billion)."

The Chamber has organized a workshop in Baku on how to search and attract funding in international and local markets, the first such event held in the Azerbaijani capital.

Participants of the seminar, joined by senior Azerbaijani representatives, included high profile financial and legal consultancies such as Grant Thornton and Simmons & Simmons who offered advice on how to enter these markets successfully.

The event was sponsored by the PASHA Bank and organized by EEIG Azerbaijan and Grant Thornton.

EEIG, an international non-governmental organization established in Belgium in 1985, has been operating in Azerbaijan since 2008. The chamber’s activity in the country is aimed at cooperation and know-how exchange between business communities of Azerbaijan and the EU.
