Armenia’s famine levels are high, Azerbaijan’s low: UN

Up to 34 percent of Armenia’s population has no access to proper nutrition, a recent UN report finds.

The former Soviet republic was listed among the countries with high famine levels (25 to 34 pct) in this year’s UN Millennium Development Goals report that ranked countries worldwide.

Azerbaijan, another South Caucasus republic, is among the countries with a small number of people suffering from malnutrition – around 5 pct, the report said.
