BAKU - Azerbaijan’s leading cellular operator Azercell has received another prestigious Socrates Award, marking its achievements in the telecommunication sector, the company said.

"The Best Network Quality in Eurasia" award, established by the European Business Assembly (EBA), was presented in a ceremony held in Oxford on June 19.

The company’s representative also received a medal with engraving "The Manager of the Year" bearing the name of Azercell Telecom CEO Ali Agan, a golden plate statue, an EBA certificate and a diploma.

Discussions at the Leaders’ Oxford Summit, held June 19-20, focused on innovative technology and new management models in modern cities. The event took pace at the Seldonian Theater located in the historical part of Oxford. Representatives of 30 leading universities of the world discussed the application of new technologies in urban management.

The Socrates Award was presented by John Netting, Chairman of Oxford Summit and General Director of EBA.

The European Business Assembly is an international corporation promoting social partnership. Leaders’ Oxford Summit, held on the initiative of the organization, creates an interactive platform for new business agreements, presentations, ideas and exchange of technologies. The Socrates Award established by EBA is presented to prominent business people and companies who have attained tremendous achievements at global level. It is also presented to the most skilled people in the fields of policy, economy and science.

Playing a special role in promoting a positive image of Azerbaijani business in Europe, Azercell "voiced Azerbaijan’s name" at this prestigious presentation hall for the second time. Last year, Azercell earned the Socrates Award in two nominations. The company’s CEO Agan was awarded the Manager of the Year medal, while Azercell Telecom LLC was named the leading company in the field of telecommunications.
