Kempinski opens first hotel in Baku
BAKU – A five-star luxury Kempinski hotel opened in the Azerbaijani capital Baku on Saturday in a ceremony attended by President Ilham Aliyev.
The hotel, located in the Badamdar settlement of the city, has 283 rooms, 37 suites and 36 offices. The 14-storied facility also contains a major entertainment complex and a shopping mall, a spa, a bowling hall, a skating rink, an aqua park, game rooms and other facilities.
Prices to be charged for stay in Kempinski Hotel Badamdar have not yet been announced, as the hotel’s website has not yet opened.
President Aliyev told the opening ceremony that the launch of a world-class hotel of this brand in Baku was remarkable.
"I am delighted that such a beautiful hotel is beginning its operation in Baku," he said. "This will make our city even more beautiful. I am very glad that the hotel’s exterior is also good-looking, and its facilities are on the highest level. Both the rooms and public places, as well as restaurants, entertainment facilities and lounges are topnotch."
Aliyev went on to say that foreign investments are properly protected in Azerbaijan. He said their protection is ensured both by domestic legislation and the government’s policy.
"It is as a result of this that for many years Azerbaijan has been the leader in CIS for the amount of per capita foreign direct investment. Last year alone, about $16 billion was invested in the Azerbaijani economy. I believe that this year, investments will be even higher, thus creating new opportunities for Azerbaijan’s comprehensive development."
