Azeri ministry announces cost of Baku bay bridge
BAKU – According to preliminary data, cost of Baku bay marine bridge would cost $1.8 billion, the Transport Ministry’s Economy and Transport Policy Department Chief Sadraddin Mammadov said on Friday.
He said by late next month, the Korean company Dongsung Engineering will submit a feasibility study of the new bridge, as well as presentation of the project to the Transport Ministry. After that, it will be submitted to the government.
If approved, an international consortium will be created that will operate on the principle of building - operation - transfer, which envisages investment by the consortium in the development, design, construction and operation of the bridge.
As Mammadov said, after the new bridge will repay funds invested in it, the consortium will transfer it to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is not supposed to invest in this project.
Mammadov underscored that the process of preparation of the project can take two or three years, while the construction process - three years.
